This is a great idea, Greg!. I've seen Joe downtown a couple of times since he became mayor, so I'm going to start carrying a red card and I'll hold it up to him and yell "Hey, Joe" to make sure he sees it. The official red cards in soccer are 6 cm by 12 cm (approx 2-1/4 x 4-1/2 inches). Find some red card or paper, make your own, and whether you attend council meetings, follow Joe to a speech, or just see him in Walmart, show him a red card. Soccer Joe will know what it means. Let's put an end to his claims that everyone he talks to supports him.

After Fontana's pushed overboard - then what?

Has anyone yet described a rational scenario - even if Fontana could be democratically removed with or without his will. Who's going to take over the mayor's chair? Or will all those who have spent this city into debt then take rotations as acting mayor? What kind of idiocy is this? I have never liked or trusted Fontana - not because he's liberal or Liberal - but because intuitively I have always felt repelled by him even as I campaigned for him. I had only feelings of distrust and no proof. So I went along with a group of Liberals and liberals. I still have no proof even though the documentation is convincing and Fontana has not denied it. I would like to wait and see if he is guilty - which my personal inclination is to believe that he is. But until I have the objective proof and if he does not voluntarily step aside and until there is a democratic replacement, we must wait for the RCMP's findings.

Nice of you to have an open mind. Being a crook has nothing to do with party affiliation. Or do you like to pretend to yourself that Brian Mulroney was a Liberal? And Torontonians all know Rob Ford is a Liberal. If Joe had been a Tory, would you ignore what he's (alleged to have) done? Instead of making sweeping generalizations , try looking beyond party membership next time, OK?

Lets start with the facts. A city councilor can only be removed from Council if that person is convicted and incarcerated of a crime! Yes or No? If yes then there is no legal reason for one to resign short of such a situation or I suppose medical reasons! Scenario: A sitting Councilor formerly sat in federal parliament and may have miss spent public dollars. On the basis of correctness that person could repay with interest; resolved as resolution; therefore no charges; no conviction; no incarceration! Person could make an apology for conduct and further state there would be no candidacy in next election. As much as I might have morale indignation there is nothing legally I can do. If this is right; I must move on! Is this scenario plausible let me know!! The issue of leaking the info; possible black mailing for land severance; gov"t failure to monitor are not relevant to this issue and best left to RCMP or police! These don't justify misbehaviour!

This is sabotage by process. If you understand the process and its vulnerabilities you can sabotage the outcome. Unscrupulous old hands at the game do it all the time.
The chairs make a few extra bucks. They don't set the agenda, otherwise, an old pol like Spud Molehill would not have set the SWAP item at 8:30 pm on a 600 pae agenda.
Let's be clear here. Fontana does not have to wait until the Mounties complete their investigation. He simply needs to state that he paid for the wedding out of his personal account and provide an update on when he will release his bank statements. As I have said before I do not trust him. I have to believe there is an item on the upcoming agenda that he wants to win or turn down and he knows a 7-7 tie will not make that happen.

I disagree. He's only barely got a majority of council supporting him (and at least one has abandoned him), the media is reporting what he's done to get himself in trouble, a large number of citizens are demanding answers, and the RCMP are investigating him. A good politician would have kept it all hidden and would still be looking good with no one suspecting a thing. It's time to go, Joe.

Londoners, do not forget this stuff when we finally get a chance to vote again. Joe and his cronies are hoping we'll all forget and just automatically vote for incumbents, which is what most people usually do. Don't do it! We need to clean house and get every incumbent off council. Even the so-called anti-Joe faction has to go. There will be too much baggage and too much "now it's our turn" temptation. It would be far better to have all newbies than a single incumbent. Don't forget this stuff, Londoners. Say no to incumbents.
