http://www.london.ca/d.aspx?s=/Newsroom/flashmob_jobs.htm Given the current finances it's unbelievable that London taxpayers are funding "flash mob" jobs. If you dig a little further it's no surprise to learn that at least one postion has been filled by connected and wealthy parents who sit/sat on a Board.

When will the zero stop?

Another year of zero is going to have significant consequences. Municipal taxes are the most important taxes that we pay as they contribute to the health of our community, businesses, and infrastructure that are all around us. With less money, we receive less services and if zero continues, a lower quality of daily life. If nothing else, at least Councillor Armstrong has recognized this and has switched sides. There is less hope that the others follow suit. The next Council will have a heck of a time trying to repair the damage and we will all end up paying for the mistakes of this Council. No one wants to pay more out of pocket to the government but with mortgages rates being so low these days, can we not afford to spend a few more dollars to improve our local community?

Now is the time for an austerity budget London. The City of London and all entities are rampant with nepotism and inefficiencies. The mayor and council MUST resolve the City of London's bloated bureaucracy now. NO more tax increases this year and for years to come. Unload all non-essential services and assets. Start with the John Labatt Centre. Tender out Storybook Gardens. Eliminate summer student hires (nepotism)...wh y would the city need summer positions for flash mobs? Perhaps it's time for a forensic audit of everything the citizens and taxpayers of London fund. It's time for change London, contact the mayor and council and demand the utmost fiscal and responsible bureaucracy.

No more Blood from Stone!

It's really quite simple. I've had no raises in 5 years, and am expected to survive. Why don't we stop giving raises to the various services / people accross the board? I'm tired of having to give more and continually having to do with less!! Quite grumbling amongst yourselves. Why is it that as our cities population increases, so do the taxes they take in, yet they are always increasing demands on us? You can not get blood out of a stone!

As usual, the less bright councillors will steal from Peter (services, reser ves and funds for the future) to save Paul (essentially themselves as they believe this is what the people want and in turn they want the people to vote them in again.)

As the mutual fund industry says, past performance is not indicative of future results. Who is Joe kidding? And Mr. Henderson, the failed businessman who is the other non London resident on council never gives specifics. He is quoted in the paper as saying: Henderson’s other suggestions include rethinking the way London Transit carries passengers. He says there are options to reduce LTC costs. “It’s well-known in the bus world, but our bus company doesn’t seem to care.” If it is so well known, why don't you tell us? Since you have so much more experience in the transportation business than the rest of us. Specifics please.
